Whatever season you book, expect your shoot to start either at sunrise or about one hour before sunset to capture the most striking light. This water comes from melting snow, and it usually evaporates by late summer. The Salt Flats are flooded with a shallow pool of water during the first half of the year. We prefer the Salt Flats rest area because it’s easy to find, conveniently located just off the freeway, and there is more than adequate parking. The best spot to shoot your family pictures is either the Bonneville Speedway or the Salt Flats rest area that’s about ten miles outside Wendover. Because of the distance, we do charge a $100 travel fee in addition to the standard $400 cost of a family photo shoot. They are two hours away from downtown Salt Lake City.
